Job summary

Dovetail and Slate is seeking a compassionate Learning Support Assistant to help learners in our college community during term-time. You will support students with additional needs, either 1:1 or in small groups, adapting resources and fostering independence to prepare them for life beyond the college gates.

This temporary, ongoing contract offers flexible hours (full- or part-time) with a standard day from 08:30 to 16:30, an agenda of DBS checks, and a salary of £17.50 per hour via Umbrella.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting young people with additional needs in educational, healthcare, or community settings.
  • Enhanced DBS certificate.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to a supportive teaching environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support special-needs students 1:1, in-class, or in community-based activities to meet EHCP milestones.
  • Differentiate and modify curriculum resources in collaboration with teaching staff.
  • Record support interactions accurately for EHCP annual reviews and statutory records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support special-needs students on a 1:1, in-class, or out-of-class basis to progress toward their EHCP milestones, developmental goals, and vocational aspirations.
  • Collaborate closely with teaching staff to differentiate and modify curriculum resources, including supporting students during active sessions and community-based trips.
  • Complete administrative responsibilities by recording support interactions constructively, helping the college maintain statutory records for EHCP annual reviews
Requirements
  • Experience supporting young people with additional needs (such as ASD, SEMH, sensory, or learning difficulties) in an educational, healthcare, or community setting.
  • Having an Enhanced DBS certificate.
