Are you passionate about helping children thrive?

We are working with a large, welcoming primary school in Grays that is looking for a resilient, compassionate and genuinely passionate Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a long-term basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to build a career in education and gain experience supporting children across a large mainstream primary setting, including within the school's dedicated Autism Base.

You could be supporting pupils 1:1, within small groups, in the mainstream classroom or within the Autism Base, making this an incredibly varied role where you can develop a broad range of skills.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to pupils with additional learning and support needs.
  • Work with small groups to reinforce learning and develop key skills.
  • Work alongside experienced teachers and SEND professionals.
  • Support pupils within the school's Autism Base where appropriate.
  • Help pupils develop their communication, confidence, independence and social skills.
  • Adapt your approach to meet individual needs and learning styles.
  • Support pupils who may experience challenges with communication, sensory needs, behaviour or emotional regulation.
The Autism Base

The school's Autism Base provides an excellent opportunity for candidates who are particularly interested in Autism, SEND and inclusive education.

You don't need to know everything about autism already - what matters most is having the right attitude, patience and willingness to learn.

You will be supported by experienced staff and have the opportunity to develop your understanding of how to effectively support pupils with additional needs, while learning how to adapt communication, routines and activities to individual children.

We're looking for someone who is:
  • Genuinely passionate - You want to make a meaningful difference to children's lives and aren't simply looking for a job in a school.
  • Resilient - You understand that supporting children with additional needs can present challenges, but you remain calm, consistent and positive.
  • Adaptable - You can move between 1:1 support, small groups, mainstream classrooms and SEND environments.
  • Relationship-focused - You understand that positive relationships are fundamental to helping children feel safe, confident and ready to learn.
  • Keen to develop - You are genuinely interested in learning more about SEND and developing a long-term career within education.
Experience that could be beneficial includes:
  • Learning Support Assistant experience
  • Autism or SEND experience
  • Supporting children with EHCPs
  • Speech and language needs
  • SEMH or behavioural support
  • Care or support/ Youth work
  • Psychology /Criminology /Education graduates

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy
