Learning Support Assistant – Autism Specialist School

Full-Time | Term Time Only | Immediate and Ongoing Opportunities

Are you passionate about supporting young people with additional needs? Do you have the patience, empathy, and resilience to help students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential?

We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to work within specialist schools supporting children and young people with Autism (ASD) and associated needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people who require additional support both academically and emotionally.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to provide tailored support, helping students engage with learning, develop social skills, and build confidence in a structured and nurturing environment.

The Role:

• Supporting students with Autism and associated challenges in the classroom.
• Assisting with personalised learning activities and interventions.
• Encouraging communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
• Helping students develop independence and life skills.
• Supporting positive behaviour and promoting engagement in learning.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Experience working with children, young people, or adults with additional needs (desirable but not essential).
• A calm, patient, and nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to remain resilient and adaptable in challenging situations.
• A genuine passion for supporting young people with Autism.
• Experience in education, care, youth work, support work, coaching, or similar roles would be advantageous.
