Job summary

Principal Education is recruiting on behalf of a special school in Hammersmith for a Learning Support Assistant to join full-time until July 2027. You will work one-to-one or in small groups, supporting pupils with special educational needs, including autism and learning disabilities, alongside the class teacher to create a calm and supportive classroom.

The role requires patience, empathy and reliability, with daytime hours Monday to Friday and no nights.

Qualifications

• Right to work in the UK.
• Experience in care, support work, schools or with young people with additional needs.
• Patience, empathy, composure and reliability.
• Full time availability, Monday to Friday.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to complete a new application.
• Overseas police clearance if you've lived abroad for 6 months or more in the last 5 years.

The role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will support pupils with special educational needs, including autism and learning disabilities. You'll work one to one or in small groups, alongside the class teacher, to create a safe and consistent classroom where every pupil can make progress towards their Education, Health and Care Plan.

Your day will include:

• Supporting pupils with learning, communication and daily routines
• Helping pupils stay calm and regulated when things get difficult
• Assisting with personal care, feeding and mobility where needed
• Working closely with teachers and therapists on each pupil's plan

Pay and benefits

• £105 to £130 per day depending on experience, paid weekly
• Higher rates for ongoing roles, aligned with the school's pay scale
