Job summary

Randstad Education in Horley is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with SEN in a residential special school. This term-time role is long-term and guaranteed until July 2027, with a daily rate of GBP88–GBP110.

You will provide teaching assistance, run group and individual activities, and support learners' wellbeing and progress under the teacher's guidance.

Qualifications

• Be able to work with learners that have various learning difficulties.
• Be understanding of students with special needs.
• Willingness to learn and build relationships with learners.
• Support the lead in groups and different subjects.
• Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Be flexible in approach to education.
• Experience working in SEND settings.

Responsibilities

• To provide teaching assistance to the teacher defined according to weekly/daily/sessional planning of the teacher
• To provide group and/or individual activities, planned by the teacher
• To work individually with learners/students to develop work.
• To support the general well being of learners within the structure of the school
• To monitor and evaluate learners learning under the guidance of the teacher
• To assist teachers in the use of relevant management strategies to ensure a purposeful environment for teaching and learning to take place
• To support all learners in their planned structured work in all curriculum areas

GBP88:GBP110 a day

Long term/ contract role: Guaranteed until July 2027

Within the Horley area the school is set in its own beautiful grounds. The residential special school caters for students with a range of SEN needs and has a fully enhanced curriculum. The aim of the school is to help the individuals access and progress with their independence. The school provides a fantastic holistic approach to education encompassing teaching and learning with a therapy input.

This specialised school is a non:maintained residential special school, designed to meet the educational, behavioural, care and therapeutic needs of children (age 6:16 years). The children have a range of special needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC).

The school is looking for a full time learning support assistant who is willing to make a difference and can engage students in their primary unit.

Hours: Monday:Friday 08:30:4pm

This is a term time only role.
