Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant for a residential special school in Southwater. The role is full-time, term-time, with hours 08:30-4pm, salary £88-£110 per day, guaranteed until July 2027.

You will support learners with SEN including SEMH and ASC, provide teaching assistance, run group and individual activities, and monitor progress under the teacher's guidance in a warm, holistic education environment on site.

Qualifications

• Be able to work with learners that have various learning difficulties.
• Have an understanding of the students with special needs.
• Willingness to learn and build relationships with learners.
• Be confident to support the lead in groups, in different educational subjects.
• The ability to work as an individual and as a part of the team.
• Be flexible in their approach to education.
• Have experience working in SEND settings.
• Experience working with children is essential.

Responsibilities

• To provide teaching assistance to the teacher defined according to weekly/daily/sessional planning of the teacher.
• To provide group and/or individual activities, planned by the teacher.
• To work individually with learners/students to develop work.
• To support the general well being of learners within the structure of the school.
• To monitor and evaluate learners' learning under the guidance of the teacher.
• To assist teachers in the use of relevant management strategies to ensure a purposeful environment for teaching and learning to take place.
• To support all learners in their planned structured work in all curriculum areas.

Learning Support Assistant needed

£88-£110 a day

Long term/ contract role- Guaranteed until July 2027

Within the Southwater area the school is set in its own beautiful grounds. The residential special school caters for students with a range of SEN needs and has a fully enhanced curriculum. The aim of the school is to help the individual's access and progress with their independence. The school provides a fantastic holistic approach to education encompassing teaching and learning with a therapy input.

This specialised school is a non-maintained residential special school, designed to meet the educational, behavioural, care and therapeutic needs of children (age 6-16 years). The children have a range of special needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC).

The school is looking for a full time learning support assistant who is willing to make a difference and can engage students in their primary unit.

Hours: Monday-Friday 08:30-4pm

This is a term time only role.
