Job summary

Teach South Sussex are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming primary school in Brighton seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis from September.

This is an ongoing 1:1 support role, working with a pupil in either Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2. The school is finalising internal staffing, so the successful candidate will be placed within the most suitable class before the start of term.

Qualifications

• Has previous experience working with children in a school, childcare or similar setting.
• Is patient, resilient and adaptable.
• Has a genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.
• Can commit to a full-time, ongoing position.
• Holds an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Providing consistent 1:1 support to help a pupil access learning.
• Building a positive, trusting relationship with the child.
• Supporting both academic progress and social development.
• Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement support strategies.
• Encouraging independence while maintaining a calm, patient approach.
