Job summary

Teach South Sussex is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming primary school in Brighton for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join the team on a full-time basis from September.

This is an ongoing 1:1 support role, working with a pupil in Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2. The school is finalising staffing arrangements, so the successful candidate will be placed in the most suitable class before the start of term.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in a school or childcare setting.
• Patient, resilient and adaptable.
• Genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.
• Able to commit to a full-time, ongoing position.
• Holds an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent 1:1 support to help a pupil access learning.
• Build a positive, trusting relationship with the child.
• Support both academic progress and social development.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement support strategies.
• Encourage independence while maintaining a calm, patient approach.
