Job summary

Edinburgh College is seeking a Learning Support Advisor to join our Learning Support & Disability Services team. You will identify, assess and coordinate support for students who disclose a disability or additional support need, ensuring access to learning and achievement of goals.

Using your knowledge of disability, inclusion and relevant legislation, you will work with students, academic staff and external partners to promote inclusive practice, provide guidance to staff, and help implement

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to provide sensitive support and guidance to staff.

Job description

We're looking for a Learning Support Advisor to join our Learning Support & Disability Services team.

As a Learning Support Advisor, you will identify, assess and coordinate support for students who disclose a disability or additional support need.

Using your specialist knowledge and understanding of disability, inclusion, and relevant legislation, you will work collaboratively with students, academic staff, and external partners to ensure students can access their learning, achieve their goals, and fulfil their potential.

You will play a key role in promoting inclusive practice across the College by providing advice, training and guidance to staff, supporting the implementation of reasonable adjustments, and contributing to a culture that values equality, diversity and accessibility.

About You
  • Degree level or SCQF Level 9 equivalent.
  • Knowledge of disability legislation relevant to further and higher education, and the ability to assess the impact of disabilities and additional support needs on student learning and participation.
  • Knowledge of inclusive approaches to learning and teaching
  • Experience of providing support to individuals with a range of additional support needs, including specific learning difficulties (SpLDs), mental health conditions, autism spectrum conditions, sensory impairments and physical disabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to provide sensitive support to students and effective advice and guidance to staff.
