Supply Hive Wales is seeking a Learning Mentor in Newport to support pupils' emotional wellbeing, behaviour and engagement with learning. The role involves one-to-one and small group mentoring to remove barriers to education and help pupils reach their full potential.

The successful candidate will work with staff, families and external agencies, with essential DBS Update Service, EWC registration and references. Term-time hours apply, Monday to Friday, 08:30–15:30, pay £93 per day.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group mentoring sessions to pupils requiring additional support.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils to encourage confidence, resilience and self-esteem.
  • Support pupils with social, emotional, mental health (SEMH), behavioural, or attendance needs.
  • Work with teachers to identify barriers to learning and develop intervention strategies.
  • Monitor and track pupil progress, maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Support behaviour management and promote positive attitudes towards learning.
  • Liaise with parents/carers to support pupil wellbeing and engagement at home and in school.
  • Assist with transition support for pupils moving between year groups or schools.
  • Collaborate with safeguarding leads, SENCOs and external agencies as required.
  • Promote inclusion and ensure equal opportunities to succeed.

We are seeking a caring and dedicated Learning Mentor to support pupils' emotional wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and engagement with learning. The successful candidate will work closely with children, staff, and families to help remove barriers to education and enable every pupil to reach their full potential. Previous experience working with children and strong relationship-building skills are essential. Experience supporting pupils with ALN/SEN or SEMH needs would be desirable.

Overview of the role

To support pupils' social, emotional, behavioural, and academic development, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. The Learning Mentor will work closely with pupils, teachers, parents/carers, and external agencies to promote wellbeing, engagement, attendance, and positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote inclusion and ensure all pupils have equal opportunities to succeed.
  • Contribute to the school's pastoral support and wellbeing initiatives.
Essential Requirements
  • DBS Certificate Registered onto the Update Service (Child Only Workforce or Child & Adult Workforce)
