Job summary

Lotus Recruitment Ltd in Halifax is seeking a Learning Mentor to join a specialist education setting on a full-time basis. You will support pupils aged 7-18 with SEMH needs and Autism, providing academic and emotional support to help them engage in lessons.

Working alongside teachers and support staff, you will implement individual learning and behaviour plans, promote positive wellbeing, and build trusting relationships with students to develop confidence and resilience.

Learning Mentor Halifax Full-Time 90 - 110 per day (dependent on experience)

We are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant / Learning Mentor to join a specialist education setting in Halifax on a full-time basis.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils aged 7-18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism within a nurturing and therapeutic learning environment. The Role

As a Teaching Assistant / Learning Mentor, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide both academic and emotional support to students. You will play a vital role in helping pupils engage in learning, manage their emotions, and build confidence both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting students with SEMH needs and Autism on a 1:1 and small group basis.
• Assisting with the delivery of lessons and learning activities.
• Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
• Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within education, care, youth work, residential support, or a similar setting.
• Experience supporting individuals with SEMH, Autism, behavioural needs, or additional learning needs is advantageous.
• A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
