We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Learning & Development Business Partner to join our Learning and Development team on a maternity-cover basis.

Reporting to the Head of Learning and Development, you will lead and maintain our Group-wide People Manager Excellence Programme for Band 4–6 managers. You will work in partnership with senior leaders, people managers and HR colleagues to strengthen leadership capability and create a culture of high performance, engagement and continuous development.

The role
Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Partnering with senior stakeholders to secure their continued support for the development of managers and supervisors.
  • Maintaining the quality, content, format, communication and delivery of the People Manager Excellence Programme.
  • Managing programme logistics to provide a professional and seamless experience for participants, managers and support teams.
  • Designing and delivering engaging workshops, masterclasses, coaching sessions, eLearning modules and other development interventions.
  • Acting as an internal coach and consultant to support leaders throughout their development.
  • Partnering with HR and senior stakeholders to identify leadership and people-management development needs.
  • Supporting managers to build confidence in managing performance, colleague development, wellbeing and engagement.
  • Evaluating learning effectiveness through feedback, assessments, performance information and business outcomes.
  • Creating engaging, accessible and user-friendly digital learning content aligned with DCS leadership competencies and values.
  • Supporting the management and continued development of the Learning Management System.
  • Working with HR, Health and Safety and Quality colleagues to ensure training content meets legal, compliance and audit requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate training records in accordance with reporting and audit standards.
  • Supporting the induction of new colleagues and delivering the Learning and Development elements of the programme.
  • Contributing to the wider Learning and Development strategy and supporting other initiatives as required.
Bringing our values to life

In this role, you will help managers embed our values in their everyday leadership:

We lead with character

You will encourage leaders to act with integrity, accountability, respect and trustworthiness, while role-modelling these behaviours in every interaction.

We seize the opportunity

You will bring a growth mindset, courage, adaptability and innovation to the design and delivery of leadership development.

We deliver with excellence

You will maintain high standards of quality, precision and continuous improvement, ensuring that learning delivers measurable value for colleagues and the business.

We win together

You will build strong, collaborative relationships and create development experiences that encourage shared success, recognition and a competitive team spirit.

What we are looking for
Our ideal candidate will have:
  • Proven Learning and Development experience, with a strong focus on leadership and people-management development.
  • Experience designing and delivering successful leadership and management development programmes.
  • Excellent facilitation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire both face-to-face and virtual audiences.
  • Experience partnering with senior stakeholders and influencing colleagues at all levels.
  • A strong understanding of leadership theory and modern people-management practices.
  • Coaching experience and a genuine growth‑mindset approach.
  • Confidence using Learning Management Systems and developing digital learning pathways.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong planning, organisation and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently, manage priorities and continuously improve the learning experience.
  • A flexible, adaptable and resilient approach within a fast‑paced environment.
  • The ability to tailor development solutions to different roles, levels, learning styles and business needs.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Teams.
  • A full, clean UK driving licence.

A recognised coaching or leadership‑development qualification, such as ILM or CIPD, would be advantageous, although equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
