Job summary

Yorkshire Water is seeking a Learning Design Manager to lead the creation of engaging, performance-driven learning content for colleagues. You will ensure learning outcomes are practical, measurable and aligned with real business needs, enabling safe and effective performance.

The role guides a team of four specialists, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement to support the company’s learning journey.

Qualifications

• Translate complex business, technical or operational information into clear, engaging learning content.
• Design learning content, pathways or blended interventions that improve capability, confidence and performance.
• Strong understanding of learning design principles, adult learning, needs analysis, evaluation and continuous improvement.
• Experience leading, coaching or managing learning professionals or teams.
• Strong stakeholder management to shape briefs and influence design decisions.
• Experience using digital learning tools and authoring platforms to create effective learning experiences.
• Strong written communication, storytelling and content development skills.
• Use data and learner feedback to improve content quality and measure impact.
• Commitment to inclusive, accessible learning design for a diverse workforce.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership across learning design standards, content development, learning innovation and continuous improvement.
• Ensure learning content aligns with brand, values and practical workplace application.
• Drive performance-focused design aiming for measurable improvements in capability and safety.
• Stay updated on digital learning, AI-enabled learning, microlearning and evidence-based practice.
• Lead a team of four Learning Design Specialists to deliver on-brand, accessible content.
