Job summary

Had-Fab is seeking an experienced Learning & Development Business Partner to shape how we develop our people as the business grows.

Working with the People team and senior leaders, you will identify skills gaps and design practical development programmes for shop-floor teams, managers and future talent across Scotland.

This is a hands-on role focused on onboarding, leadership development and partnerships with colleges and training providers to deliver measurable impact.

Qualifications

• Experience in Learning & Development, organisational development or similar.
• Strong partnering with managers and senior leaders.
• Experience in manufacturing, engineering or similar operational environments is valuable.

Job description

Had-Fab is looking for an experienced Learning & Development Business Partner to join our People team and help shape how we develop our people as the business continues to grow.

As a family-owned engineering and fabrication business operating across multiple sites in Scotland, our people and their skills are critical to our future success. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of L&D and build practical development programmes that support our shop-floor teams, managers, leaders and future talent.

The Role

Working closely with the People team, Senior Leadership Team and Heads of Department, you will identify skills gaps across the business and develop an L&D approach that supports both our people and operational requirements.

You will work across Manufacturing, Engineering, Projects and our wider support functions, developing clear training and career pathways that help our people build their skills and progress within Had-Fab.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Developing and delivering Had-Fab’s Learning & Development plan.
• Working with Heads of Department to identify current and future skills gaps.
• Creating departmental skills matrices and competency frameworks.
• Developing structured training and career pathways for key roles.
• Supporting technical and shop-floor skills development across our manufacturing operations.
• Developing onboarding and induction programmes for new employees.
• Building management and leadership development programmes.
• Supporting apprenticeships, graduate development and early-career programmes.
• Developing succession plans and internal career progression opportunities.
• Working with colleges, training providers and external partners.
• Supporting managers with individual development plans for their teams.
• Developing internal trainers, mentors and subject matter experts.
• Ensuring mandatory and role-specific training is effectively managed and recorded.
• Creating engaging face-to-face and digital learning content.
• Measuring the effectiveness of training and demonstrating the impact of L&D across the business.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about developing people but also understands that L&D needs to deliver practical results for the business.

You will ideally have experience within Learning & Development, organisational development or a similar role and be confident partnering with managers and senior leaders.

Experience within manufacturing, engineering, fabrication, construction or another operational environment would be particularly valuable, along with experience of apprenticeships, competency frameworks, skills matrices and leadership development.
