Leadership Development Manager

Location: Hybrid working, Worthing

Perm/FTC: Permanent

Hours: 37 hrs

Salary: Up to £66,000 based on experience

Southern Water are looking for a Leadership Development Manager to join our fantastic L&D team. This managerial role drives the standard of leadership and management development interventions, processes, and systems to enable Southern Water to achieve its vision. It will influence, challenge, and drive the achievement of business strategy and plans by enabling people to feel connected, informed and motivated about their role, achieve success and facilitate high performance by delivering a wide range and scope of leadership and management development interventions.

Accountabilities

  • Leads a team of Leadership Development professionals, whilst implementing and embedding the LD strategies, action plans and processes within the team and business, which support the business’s objectives and key results.
  • Provide expertise, reporting and insights in leadership and management development to the HR Leadership Team and the key stakeholders.
  • Build effective, collaborative working relationships with key business stakeholders and People Partners to implement key strategies and tactical interventions for leadership and management development.
  • Manage associated budgets linked to leadership development, including contract management for external design and delivery. Balances the initial costs of training with the long-term financial benefits and negotiates budgets.
  • Designs and delivers business-wide learning interventions for leadership development, including mentoring, via the management of the LD Trainers and their own workload.
  • Provides coaching to the Senior Leadership Team and other managers to empower them to develop and improve their performance and/or behaviours.
  • Provides expert knowledge in application of psychometric testing and/or behavioural profiling for leaders and managers

  • Influence: The ability to persuade senior managers and middle management to support L&D
  • Communication: The ability to communicate effectively in both writing and speaking
  • Planning: The ability to plan and organize
  • Skilled in content design and facilitation
  • Is ready and able to take the initiative, originate action and be responsible for the consequences of the decisions made
  • Effective management: able to energise, motivate and lead teams
  • Brilliant collaboration with internal and external stakeholders

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Relevant experience gained in large complex organisation(s) with multiple stakeholders (including matrix relationships)
  • Knowledge of current thinking in HR issues and evidence of CPD
  • Have significant experience of designing, implementing, and managing learning & development activities at pace and scale.
  • Extensive and significant experience gained within Learning & Development
  • CIPD qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience with learning and development.
  • HR qualification and experience.
  • Behavioural profiling or psychometric testing qualification.
  • Coaching qualification and/or experience.
