Job summary
Thales Group is seeking a Communications & Networking Research – Software Solution Lead in Reading, to drive the development of next-generation connectivity solutions for defence and security applications. The role combines advanced research with practical software engineering, leading a small team and engaging with customers to shape demonstrators into deployable systems.
Hybrid role with minimum 3 days onsite in Reading, UK.
Qualifications
- Strong technical background in communications, networking and connectivity systems.
- Experience developing wireless communication solutions across SATCOM and terrestrial technologies.
- Embedded software development experience from proof-of-concept through to prototype delivery.
- Experience with modern software practices and cloud-native architectures.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical delivery of connectivity demonstrators and prototype solutions.
- Design and implement software-enabled communications and networking systems.
- Translate wireless concepts into scalable architectures and deployable capabilities.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring a small team of engineers.
- Engage with customers and stakeholders to shape solutions.
- Support technology strategy and future research bids.
