Job summary

Thales is seeking a Senior Principal Systems Engineer to lead the delivery of complex naval communications programmes for UK and international customers. The role combines technical leadership, systems thinking and programme delivery across the full lifecycle, based in Crawley, Reading & Fareham.

You will define architectures, lead multidisciplinary teams, and ensure successful delivery from concept to deployment, with a focus on governance, IVVQ, and robust design documentation.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex systems programmes.
• Strong background across the full systems engineering lifecycle (requirements, design, integration, V&V, acceptance).
• Experience with governance milestones (SRR, PDR, CDR).

Responsibilities

• Lead the definition of technical solutions from requirements capture to system design.
• Provide technical leadership across engineering teams to deliver on cost, schedule and quality.
• Support bid activities by interpreting customer requirements and shaping robust solutions.
• Plan and deliver engineering work packages aligned to programme objectives.
• Maintain system design baselines through customer acceptance and IVVQ activities.
• Lead investigations and resolve system-level issues.
