Job summary

The Circle Health Group is seeking a Senior Theatre Practitioner to join the Theatre department at The Blackheath Hospital in London. This full-time, on-site role offers 37.5 hours per week with a salary of up to £45,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

You will provide skilled support to surgical teams, supervise junior staff, and help coordinate theatres and patient care while upholding high governance and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) with current registration.
• Significant perioperative experience with orthopaedic procedures.
• Proven leadership, communication, and decision‑making abilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and handle specialist instrumentation and equipment per surgeon protocols.
• Assist surgical and anaesthetic teams, anticipating needs during procedures.
• Lead theatre prep, coordinate lists, ensure equipment and staff availability.
• Support Theatre Manager with briefs, scheduling, stock control, and patient flow.
• Supervise junior staff and provide clinical guidance during shifts.
• Identify risks and participate in audits and incident reviews.
• Liaise with consultants, anaesthetists, recovery staff and ward teams.
