Job summary

Circle Health Group is seeking a Senior Theatre Practitioner (Scrub) for a 22.5 hour per week fixed-term role at The Clementine Churchill Hospital in Harrow. The post supports orthopaedic procedures, coordinating lists and ensuring staff and equipment are ready for operations.

The role also involves supervising junior staff, contributing to patient safety and governance, and maintaining high standards of infection control and patient care.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
• Significant perioperative experience with specialist knowledge in orthopaedic surgery.
• Orthopaedic scrub experience essential.
• SFA qualification desirable.
• Excellent leadership, communication and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and handle specialist instrumentation and equipment in line with manufacturers' guidance and surgical protocols.
• Provide skilled assistance to the surgical and anaesthetic teams, anticipating needs and adapting during procedures.
• Take a senior role in preparing theatres, coordinating surgical lists and ensuring equipment, staff and resources are in place.
• Support the Theatre Manager with team briefings, scheduling, stock control and safe patient flow.
• Supervise junior theatre practitioners, ODPs and healthcare assistants, providing clinical guidance during shifts.
• Identify and manage clinical or operational risks and participate in audits and incident reviews.
• Collaborate with consultants, anaesthetists, recovery staff and ward teams to ensure continuity of care and patient experience.
