Job summary

Carlisle Mencap is seeking a Team Leader to supervise the support worker team and deliver a person-centred service for adults with learning disabilities. The role emphasizes strong leadership, safeguarding, and effective record keeping within a collaborative care setting.

The position requires mentoring staff, coordinating rotas with the Service Manager, and supporting individuals to achieve maximum independence while maintaining high standards of care. The role may evolve toward full-time hours.

Qualifications

• Experience of person-centred planning.
• Awareness of autistic spectrum disorders or learning disabilities.
• Ability to supervise and mentor staff.
• Commitment to safeguarding and records integrity.
• Experience with medication administration and policy compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the support worker team and provide day-to-day supervision.
• Ensure services reflect individual needs and wishes through person-centred plans.
• Advocate for service users and support decision-making and independence.
• Develop relationships with families, carers, and external professionals.
• Maintain thorough records and evidence of progress against outcomes.
• Administer medication in line with policy and contribute to audits and reviews.
• Organise rotas with the Service Manager and cover shifts safely.
• Lead on recruitment and induction of new staff when required.
