Job summary

Carlisle Mencap is seeking a dynamic and caring individual to provide person-centred support to people with learning disabilities. You will work with service users to enable them to take control of their lives, promoting independence, inclusion and rights in an anti-discriminatory environment.

The role involves developing care plans, supporting daily living activities, personal care, and safeguarding. Training will be provided, with opportunities to progress qualifications and earn incremental

Qualifications

Good communication skills and ability to keep accurate records.
Ability to support everyday living and community skills (cooking, cleaning, transport, shopping).
Assistance with monies and money management.
Open, approachable attitude and flexible working hours.
Ability to work on own initiative as well as in a team.
Willingness to complete Care Certificate and related training.

Responsibilities

Develop trusting relationships with service users to understand needs and concerns.
Assist with drawing up care plans and person-centred plans.
Support service users in daily activities, promoting independence and choice.
Provide personal care as required with dignity and respect.
Encourage cultural and spiritual needs and personal identity.
Follow safeguarding policies and maintain confidentiality.
Collaborate with families and other agencies as required.
