Job summary

Amey is recruiting a Lead Senior Engineer for our Consulting Highways team, based across the South West, with opportunities nationally. The role focuses on feasibility through to construction on National Highways schemes, collaborating with offices in Exeter, Cardiff, Bristol and London, and a mix of office and remote work.

We seek an experienced engineer, ideally Chartered or Incorporated, with strong knowledge of DMRB, Eurocodes, and CDM, who can lead a multidisciplinary team and contribute to

Qualifications

• Experience as a Senior Engineer or equivalent, Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status is desirable.
• Strong understanding of the DMRB and Eurocodes related to highway bridge design, strengthening, refurbishment and assessment.
• Ability to act as day-to-day main engineering contact and supervise junior staff.
• Knowledge of CDM and risk assessment, with ability to manage hazards and risks on projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team to deliver technically sound engineering solutions meeting standards and client requirements.
• Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings, and scheme documentation.
• Oversee junior staff and ensure quality, cost and programme considerations.
• Manage project budgets and commercial success within portfolio.
• Liaise with client and supplier representatives and attend progress meetings.
• Contribute to bids and the work-winning function.
• Promote health and safety practices within the team.
