Job summary

Amey is seeking a Senior Highways Engineer to join the Consulting team across multiple regions, including Scotland, delivering sustainable highway infrastructure on a hybrid basis from an office location. The role offers ownership of project delivery, development of technical expertise, and leadership of multidisciplinary teams on major programmes.

You will work with clients and stakeholders to produce designs, calculations and documentation, mentoring engineers and contributing to bid

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards professional accreditation.
• Experience delivering highways and civil engineering designs across local/major roads and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Deliver highways engineering solutions across infrastructure projects.
• Produce designs, drawings, calculations and technical documentation.
• Support project delivery while supervising and developing junior team members.
• Work with clients and project stakeholders to deliver high‑quality outcomes.
• Lead highways projects and provide technical guidance across project teams.
• Manage delivery, quality, budgets and programme requirements.
• Mentor engineers and technicians.
• Support bid preparation and client engagement to grow the business.
• Provide technical and people leadership across major highways and infrastructure programmes.
• Oversee engineering excellence, project performance and commercial success.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and act as a trusted adviser to clients.
• Drive innovation, work‑winning activities and the professional development of teams.
