Job summary

WPS - London is seeking an experienced Lead Resident Engineer (Electrical Bias) to join our Facilities Management team, delivering a first-class engineering service on behalf of JLL at a prestigious commercial property in London.

You will act as the lead engineering presence on site, combining technical expertise with client engagement and service delivery excellence, taking ownership of day-to-day operations while staying involved in maintenance activities.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent qualification.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
• Experience in Facilities Management, Building Services, or Commercial Maintenance.
• Strong fault-finding, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience acting as a lead engineer or site lead coordinating activities.
• Experience using CAFM systems and producing maintenance reports.
• Proactive, organised and customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Act as the lead engineering representative on site and primary contact for engineering matters.
• Build relationships with the client and stakeholders to ensure high customer satisfaction.
• Deliver planned preventive maintenance and reactive tasks across electrical and building services.
• Ensure compliance with regulations, health & safety, and company procedures.
• Coordinate specialist subcontractors and monitor quality and performance.
• Monitor plant and equipment and identify reliability improvements.
• Support technical reporting, risk assessments and permit-to-work processes.
• Maintain engineering documentation and CAFM records.
• Provide guidance to engineers on site when required.
• Drive a proactive maintenance culture focused on service excellence.

WPS is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Lead Resident Engineer (Electrical Bias) to join our Facilities Management team, delivering a first-class engineering service on behalf of our client, JLL, at a prestigious commercial property in London.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled electrical engineer looking to take the next step in their career. Acting as the lead engineering presence on site, you will combine hands-on technical expertise with client engagement and service delivery excellence, taking ownership of the day-to-day engineering operation whilst remaining fully involved in maintenance activities.

As the Lead Resident Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring all planned and reactive maintenance activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with contractual requirements, whilst driving high standards of customer service, compliance, and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the lead engineering representative on site and primary point of contact for engineering matters.
• Build strong relationships with the client and key stakeholders, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks across electrical and building services systems.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, health & safety requirements, and company procedures.
• Support and coordinate specialist subcontractors, ensuring quality and performance standards are achieved.
• Monitor plant and equipment performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and enhanced reliability.
• Assist with technical reporting, audits, risk assessments, and permit-to-work processes.
• Manage engineering documentation and ensure accurate maintenance records are maintained through CAFM systems.
• Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers attending site where required, without direct line management responsibility.
• Drive a proactive maintenance culture focused on service excellence, reliability, and continuous improvement.

About You

We are looking for a technically strong electrically qualified engineer with experience gained within a commercial facilities management or building services environment.

You Will Ideally Have

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent qualification.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
• Proven experience within Facilities Management, Building Services, or Commercial Maintenance environments.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, associated infrastructure, and statutory compliance requirements.
• Multi-skilled experience with mechanical and building services systems would be highly desirable.
• Experience acting as a lead engineer, site lead, or senior engineer with responsibility for coordinating site activities.
• Strong fault-finding, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working within client-facing environments and developing positive stakeholder relationships.
• Experience using CAFM systems and producing maintenance reports.
• Excellent understanding of safe systems of work, permits, and compliance requirements.
• A proactive, organised, and customer-focused approach.
