Job summary

SSE is seeking a Lead Project Engineer to drive delivery of high-profile transmission projects across Scotland. You will oversee development, design and handover, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and managing interfaces with stakeholders.

The role requires experience in project delivery within transmission or related sectors, strong leadership, and a proactive approach to risk management. Flexible First options available and a 50% office-based requirement in Scotland.

Qualifications

• Experience of project development and delivery in transmission or similar industry.
• Ability to develop optimum project solutions and manage multiple projects.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Mentoring and coaching experience within an engineering team.
• Understanding of CDM regulations and ESQCR requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and guide project teams through development and delivery of high-value transmission projects.
• Collaborate with engineers and managers to identify and mitigate design risks in pre-construction.
• Ensure CDM procedures and ESQCR/regulatory requirements are followed for substations and electrical systems.
• Coordinate design assurance reviews and deliver Gate documentation per governance for Large Capital Projects.
• Mentor engineers to build capability within the team.
