Job summary

SSEN Transmission is seeking a Lead Project Engineer for the Onshore team to steer multidisciplinary engineers in delivering safe, innovative, value-adding solutions across our transmission portfolio. You will ensure a safe and reliable electricity supply while supporting net-zero delivery in Scotland.

The role focuses on onshore projects including substations, overhead lines and underground cables in the East Coast of Scotland, requiring office presence 50% of the time in Scottish locations.

Qualifications

• Experience leading development and delivery of complex engineering projects in electricity transmission or similar infrastructure.
• Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering disciplines and interfaces.
• Strong communication and relationship-building to influence decisions with diverse stakeholders.
• Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or related engineering; Chartered status advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver major transmission infrastructure projects.
• Provide engineering leadership, governance and assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Work collaboratively to develop practical, innovative engineering solutions balancing safety, quality, timetable and value for money.
• Champion Safety by Design and fulfil CDM responsibilities from early stages of project development.
• Build relationships with colleagues, contractors, operational users and external stakeholders; mentor engineers across the team.
