Job summary

SSE plc is seeking an experienced Lead Project Manager based in Scotland, spending 50% of time in office locations (Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen or Inverness). The role leads major onshore and offshore transmission projects to support the energy transition, with a focus on safety, delivery and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading large, complex capital projects in electricity transmission or major infrastructure.
• Deep understanding of the project development lifecycle from feasibility to construction handover.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and multiple workstreams.
• Strong commercial and project controls experience (procurement, NEC3 contracts, budgets, governance).
• Excellent communication and decision-making with commitment to health, safety and environment; degree or equivalent; membership or PM qualification advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary teams including employees, consultants, contractors and supply chain partners.
• Develop major onshore and offshore transmission projects from feasibility through planning and construction handover.
• Guide route and technology option selection to ensure consentable, constructable solutions within budget and schedule.
• Oversee programmes, budgets, risks, procurement and governance with forecasting and reporting.
• Manage internal and external relationships with safety and environmental leadership throughout project phases.
