Job summary

A healthcare trust is seeking a Band 7 Lead Paediatric Audiologist to join their Audiology team in Peterborough. The role involves performing audiological investigations, counselling patients and parents on hearing loss management, and providing sensitive support to distressed individuals. Candidates must possess a BSc in Audiology or equivalent, have experience in NHS audiology services, and demonstrate excellent communication skills. Job description
Responsibilities
  • To select and perform audiological investigations to assess the child's hearing function, determining the nature and extent of the hearing disorder/disability. This will incorporate thorough history taking, otoscopy, pure tone audiometry, VRA, performance audiometry, tympanometry and speech testing.
  • Provide counselling to patients and parents/carers regarding the nature and extent of any hearing loss, and the options on how this could be managed.
  • Manage distressed or angry patients, parents / carers sensitively, especially when disclosing test results and management options.
  • Provide audiological management to patients with significant co-morbidities, including mental health problems and learning difficulties.
Qualifications

We are committed to supporting colleagues through organisational change. Priority will be given to staff at risk within North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust and Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Integrated Care Board.

Applicants must be qualified Audiologists with BSc in Audiology (or equivalent Audiology qualification) and should meet the requirement for registration, and have training/work experience in an NHS audiology service. Good communication skills are essential. Diagnostic Audiological Assessment.
