Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Principal Engineer in Electrical Engineering to lead FEED and detailed design for substation projects, while mentoring a high-performing team based in the UK. You will engage with clients and drive technical excellence across disciplines.

The role combines office-based work with client-facing activities, offering opportunities for leadership development and involvement in business growth.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Working towards Chartered Engineer via IET.
• Experience in P&C design of substations UK or internationally.
• Experience preparing bids and cost estimates for FEED and detailed design.
• Knowledge of IEC and IEEE electrical standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead FEED and detailed design for HV transmission substations.
• Line manage engineers; support recruitment and training.
• Oversee bid submissions to high standards.
• Coordinate with back-office engineers, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Lead tender management for HV plant packages.
• Engage with clients; chair design and hazard review meetings.
• Support business development and growth initiatives.
• Train and develop junior engineers.
