The Role

Supervise an administrative team of secretaries and administrative clerks and to provide a comprehensive administrative support to a team of clinicians, enabling clinicians to operate effectively and efficiently. Ensure the work of the administrative team is carried out in accordance with NHS Lanarkshire’s standard operating procedures.

What we\'ll need you to bring
  • SVQ level 3 qualification (or equivalent experience) plus at least 2 years experience as a medical secretary
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of medical terminology
  • Evidence of effective team working and dealing with change
  • Evidence of good communication skills with patients, clinicians and colleagues.
  • Advanced audio typing skills
  • Evidence of strong competence with relevant IT systems
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Proven ability to work under pressure.
It would be great if you also have
  • Possess or be working towards ECDL or equivalent
  • Secretarial experience in an equivalent position.
  • Supervisory / mentorship experience in an equivalent position
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages and Database Systems
  • Knowledge & understanding of Mental Health Act
  • Proficient IT skills which include a full working knowledge of Microsoft office packages.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work on own initiative.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Accurate keyboard skills.

Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in Community Mental Health within Hunter Health Centre.

The working pattern for this role: Monday - Friday (9am - 5pm).
