Job summary

AECOM in Dublin is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead HV substation design across UK & Ireland. You will produce primary plant layouts, provide input on FEED studies, and guide design across major infrastructure projects.

The role requires a degree in Electrical Engineering and extensive FEED/detailed design experience in HV plant. You’ll mentor juniors and partner with clients, with a hybrid working model and a focus on innovative energy delivery.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering with HV experience.
• Experience with FEED and detailed design for HV substations.
• Ability to lead design input for major infrastructure projects.
• Strong client-facing and project management capabilities.
• Understanding of AIS and GIS HV plant infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Produce primary plant layouts for HV substations.
• Lead engineering design input to major infrastructure projects.
• Develop cable routes considering length, thermal conditions and land use.
• Prepare equipment specifications for HV plant and related equipment.
• Develop specifications with specialists and project partners.
• Create tender specs and evaluate tenders.
• Provide design assurance during tender and supplier meetings.
• Review supplier designs during construction, support commissioning and fault resolution.
• Mentor junior team members and act as client-facing partner.
