Job summary

Sandwell Council is seeking an experienced Team Leader for the Housing Solutions Service to guide a team of Homelessness Prevention Officers and Housing Needs Advisers. You will provide expert guidance on complex cases, ensure legislative compliance and drive continuous service improvements.

You will build strong partnerships, support staff development, and represent the service in key meetings and forums to improve outcomes for customers facing housing difficulties.

Qualifications

• Experience leading and developing teams in homelessness/housing contexts.
• Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation, housing options and prevention.
• Excellent communication, problem solving and decision making skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate a team delivering homelessness prevention and housing advice services.
• Provide guidance on complex homelessness cases and statutory decisions.
• Ensure compliance with homelessness legislation and Council policies.
• Drive service performance, quality assurance and improvements.
• Develop partnerships with internal services, housing providers and voluntary sector organisations.
• Represent the Housing Solutions Service in meetings and forums at management level.
• Support customers to understand housing options and access appropriate accommodation pathways.
• Mentor staff through supervision, coaching and development opportunities.
• Contribute to policy development and service transformation.
