Job summary

Government Recruitment Service in Barnstaple is recruiting for a Heavy Vehicle Technical Officer to join DVSA’s Vehicle Services leadership team. You will process technical applications, ensuring full assessment and documentation compliance, and act as a trusted advisor to front-line staff, vehicle operators, manufacturers and others.

• Ability to respond to technical queries from processing teams and public

Responsibilities

• Provide professional assessment of heavy vehicle statutory test applications for first test and conversions, ensuring compliance.
• Assess applications of ECWVTA vehicles.
• Provide technical support to processing teams and act as advisory to frontline staff, operators, manufacturers and others.
• Investigate solutions to mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with Vehicle Policy Team on new initiatives and standards.
• Communicate with internal and external customers to ensure clear understanding and concise responses.
• Support Heavy Vehicle Processing Manager and represent DVSA at trade events.
• Maintain relevant databases as required.
