Balfour Beatty Power Transmission & Distribution in Derby is seeking a Principal Design Engineer - Foundations to lead foundation and geotechnical design across OHL, cabling and substation projects. You will ensure design feasibility, constructability, and timely delivery, mentoring junior designers, and embedding Safety by Design across projects within the Power T&D business.
The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams including geotechnical, structural, and construction
Qualifications
- Degree level education or equivalent with formal training in civil engineering and/or geotechnical engineering.
- Professional membership with ICE or Geol Soc and working towards Chartered Engineer status.
- Strong post-graduate experience in the civil engineering industry.
- Experience supervising sub-consultants or subcontractors.
- Proven experience in the design of civil engineering works and geotechnical engineering works.
Responsabilités
- Undertake design and co-ordination of foundation and geotechnical designs for OHL, cabling and substation projects from feasibility to detail design and delivery.
- Ensure timely and quality delivery of designs with reports, calculations and drawings.
- Attend testing and supervise installation to verify design and construction quality.
- Embed Safety by Design and maintain CDM compliance across designs.
