Job summary

Balfour Beatty Power T&D in Derby is seeking a Principal Design Engineer - Foundations to lead the foundation and geotechnical design for OHL projects. You will coordinate with design teams, clarify constructability, and ensure delivery aligns with programme, budget and safety requirements.

The role requires strong civil/geotechnical design experience, familiarity with ENA/BS standards, and proven leadership of multi-disciplinary teams on complex power transmission schemes.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil/geotechnical engineering required.
• Professional membership (ICE or Geol Soc) and working towards Chartered Engineer status desired.
• Strong post-graduate experience in civil engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and coordination of foundation and geotechnical designs for OHL, cabling and substation projects.
• Ensure designs meet programme, cost and quality requirements and standards (BS/Eurocodes/ENA).
• Provide constructability and sequencing input for civil and temporary works designs.
• Collaborate with Geotechnical, OHL, Structures, Drainage, and Construction teams across projects.
