Job summary

Balfour Beatty are seeking a Principal OHL Design Engineer to join the Power T&D Division on UK-wide projects. You will lead design delivery for overhead line schemes up to 400kV, from tendering through to handover, ensuring compliance with industry standards and BB governance.

You will mentor and coach others, collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, and embed Safety and Sustainability by Design across projects while driving innovation and value engineering.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical engineering.
• Expert OHL design knowledge with senior design experience.
• Knowledge of UK/European design codes and standards (SSE, National Grid, ENA tech specs, BS EN 50341/IEC 60826).
• Expert in PLS-CADD and related support packages.
• Familiar with CAD packages used in Line Design.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel).
• Chartered Engineer status desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design delivery for Overhead Line projects up to 400kV from tender to handover.
• Ensure compliance with standards, customer requirements and BB governance.
• Deliver design scope to programme, budget and quality.
• Review tender/contract docs to establish OHL scope of works.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and stakeholders.
• Embed Safety and Sustainability by Design across projects.
