Job summary

Sainsbury's in Newport is seeking a Food Store Manager to lead a busy food hall, role modelling high standards and coaching teams to deliver excellent customer service and sales. You will manage performance, scheduling, and day-to-day store operations, ensuring compliance and a bright, welcoming shopping experience for every customer.

Qualifications

• Proven track record of delivering exceptional customer experiences and coaching others to raise the bar.
• Experience leading teams in dynamic, customer-facing environments with a focus on service excellence.
• Leadership in high-volume, fast-paced operations—retail, food service or hospitality.
• Proven ability to deliver against KPIs across sales, stock, customer satisfaction and engagement.
• Experience handling complex people matters including performance, absence and employee relations cases.

Responsibilities

• Role modelling high standards and coaching across the food hall.
• Manage compliance to processes while delivering great shop keeping and customer service.
• Ensure every customer gets the food they want when they shop with us.
• Oversee people management, performance, capability, disciplinaries, scheduling and pay accuracy.
• Occasionally run the store and provide direction and support to colleagues.
