Job summary

Environment Agency is seeking a Senior Advisor in Fluvial Flood Risk Modelling to join the Evidence Services team. You will support and provide assurance on complex flood risk models and explain uncertainty to stakeholders. You will coach others to develop models and contribute to the broader flood risk modelling capability.

You will collaborate with hydrology experts, manage risk modelling outputs, and help raise standards across the organisation through Centres of Excellence.

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge and technical leadership in flood modelling and hydrology.
• Expert knowledge and/or considerable experience in building hydraulic flood models in a fluvial setting.
• Experience in data processing and management, and GIS software packages.
• Mentoring and coaching skills, and a commitment to continuous development.
• Ability to work alone or in a team to make decisions and solve problems.
• Excellent communication skills, especially explaining complex problems to non-experts.
• Curious, open, and inclusive mindset with commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity.
• Influencing and persuading skills.

Responsibilities

• Support six Fluvial Delivery Teams technically and contribute to ways of working, skills and training.
• Provide input across Evidence Services and within Flood Risk Management directorate.
