Job summary

Environment Agency in England is seeking a Senior Advisor in Fluvial Flood Risk Modelling to join our Evidence Services. You will provide technical leadership, assurance and guidance on complex flood models used to support risk assessment and decision making.

You will collaborate with 6 Fluvial Delivery Teams and work across Centres of Excellence, mentoring colleagues and helping to shape ways of working while promoting inclusive, flexible working.

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge and technical leadership in flood modelling and hydrology.
• Extensive experience building hydraulic flood models in a fluvial setting and GIS integration.
• Experience in data processing and management with GIS software.
• Mentoring and coaching skills with commitment to development.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, solving problems.
• Communicates complex problems clearly to non-experts.
• Inclusive mindset and commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
• Influencing and persuading stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to six Fluvial Delivery Teams.
• Support flood hydrology and fluvial flood risk modelling activities.
• Input to risk assessment and mapping through Centres of Excellence.
• Mentor colleagues and promote best practices in modelling.
• Explain complexity and uncertainty to non-expert audiences.
