Job summary

Environment Agency in the United Kingdom seeks a Senior Advisor in Fluvial Flood Risk Modelling to join our Evidence Services. You’ll support and provide assurance to complex flood risk modelling, explain uncertainty to non-experts, and coach others to develop new models.

You will work with Flood Hydrology and 6 Fluvial Delivery Teams, contributing to the Centres of Excellence and delivering high-quality outcomes for people, places and the environment.

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge and technical leadership in flood modelling and hydrology.
• Experience building hydraulic flood models in a fluvial setting with GIS software.
• Data processing and Geographical Information System (GIS) software capabilities.
• Mentoring and coaching skills, with commitment to continuous development.
• Excellent communication of complex problems to non-expert audiences.

Responsibilities

• Support 6 Fluvial Delivery Teams technically and promote best practices.
• Contribute to ways of working, skills and training across Evidence Services.
• Explain modelling results, uncertainty and implications to stakeholders and decision-makers.
