Job summary

Environment Agency is seeking a Senior Advisor in Fluvial Flood Risk Modelling to join the Evidence Services team. You will support and assure complex flood risk models, drawing on expert knowledge of hydrology and fluvial modelling.

The role requires coaching others and sharing best practices across delivery teams. You will work with flood hydrology and coastal risk modelling specialists, contributing to Centre of Excellence initiatives and directing technical work to ensure robust, transparent

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge and leadership in flood modelling and hydrology.
• Expert knowledge and / or significant experience building hydraulic flood models in fluvial settings using standard software.
• Experience in data processing and GIS software packages.
• Mentoring and coaching skills with commitment to development.
• Ability to work independently and in teams to make decisions and solve problems.
• Excellent communication skills to explain complex problems to non-experts.
• Curious, open and inclusive mindset with commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity.
• Influencing and persuading skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and assurance for flood risk modelling activities.
• Support 6 Fluvial Delivery Teams and contribute to ways of working, training and skills development.
• Collaborate across the FCRM Directorate and Centres of Excellence to share best practice.
• Help ensure high-quality outcomes for customers and stakeholders.
