Job summary

VWFS UK is seeking a knowledgeable Data Protection Specialist to join our Legal & Compliance Team in the UK. You will advise on UK data protection laws, maintain ROPA, assist DPIAs, and lead breach oversight with MI reporting to senior forums.

You will be the go-to for DSARs, complaints, and regulatory inquiries, collaborating with the business and regulators to ensure compliant, efficient operations and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Proven experience providing data protection guidance within Compliance/Legal functions.
• Strong understanding of ICO guidance, codes, and regulatory expectations in consumer credit or retail banking.
• Ability to manage complex, time-sensitive workloads with precision and professionalism.
• Experience researching, analysing, and interpreting complex regulatory information.
• Comfortable challenging views and interpreting regulatory guidance accurately.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement with influencing/negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on UK Data Protection laws and regulatory changes.
• Maintain Registers of Processing Activities (ROPA).
• Assist with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
• Lead breach management, reporting to senior forums, and MI reporting.
• Act as a focal point for DSARs, complaints, and litigation topics related to data protection.
• Develop second-line monitoring to assess compliance and drive improvements.
• Coordinate with the ICO on complaints and regulatory inquiries.
• Collaborate with Legal & Compliance to resolve data protection issues.
• Drive continuous improvement for privacy compliance and operational efficiency.
