Job summary

Elburton Primary School is seeking a reliable Lead Cleaner to maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors. You will lead a small cleaning team, organise daily tasks, supervise quality and manage stock and suppliers.

We value dependability, good organisation and clear communication. Full training will be provided on COSHH and health and safety procedures, with you as a key holder responsible for opening/closing the site and occasional out-of-hours security

Qualifications

• Experience in cleaning in a commercial/educational/public setting is advantageous but not essential.
• Ability to supervise and coordinate a team effectively.
• Willingness to act as a key holder and to open/close the site and respond to out-of-hours issues.

Job description

We are seeking a reliable, organised and motivated Lead Cleaner to help maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment for our pupils, staff and visitors.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys leading a small team. As Lead Cleaner, you will play a key role in ensuring the school is cleaned to a high standard while supporting, supervising and coordinating the work of the cleaning team.

As Lead Cleaner, you will:

• Organise and undertake cleaning duties in line with daily, weekly and termly cleaning schedules.
• Supervise, support and motivate the cleaning team to ensure high standards are maintained.
• Monitor cleaning quality and ensure work is completed efficiently and effectively.
• Order cleaning supplies and manage stock levels.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures, including COSHH requirements.
• Act as a key holder, undertaking daily opening and locking of the school and responding to occasional out-of-hours security matters.
• Provide basic site management cover during periods of absence, including facilitating contractor access and supporting holiday lettings.

We are looking for someone who:

• Can work independently and take responsibility for their workload.
• Has the ability to supervise and coordinate a team effectively.
• Is dependable, trustworthy and able to act as a key holder.
• Takes pride in maintaining high cleaning standards.
• Has good organisational and communication skills.
• Is confident using basic IT systems for ordering supplies and communication.
• Can respond flexibly to emergency cleaning situations and changing priorities.

Previous experience of cleaning in a commercial, educational or public setting would be advantageous but is not essential. Experience of working within COSHH regulations is desirable; however, full training will be provided.
