Job summary

The Link Academy is seeking a reliable Lead Cleaner to lead our cleaning team and maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across all areas of the academy. You will supervise the existing team, manage cleaning supplies, support health and safety compliance, and assist with staff cover and equipment checks.

This role requires safety consciousness, organisation, and a willingness to undertake training. Closing date is Monday 28th September 2026.

Qualifications

• Experience in cleaning management or supervisory role is preferred.
• Ability to follow cleaning specifications and health and safety guidance.
• Willingness to undertake training and work flexible shifts.

• Perform equipment checks and provide staff cover as needed.

Job description

The Link Academy are seeking a reliable and proactive Lead Cleaner to lead our dedicated cleaning team at the Academy. You will ensure a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene across all areas, supervise the existing team, manage cleaning supplies, and support health and safety compliance.

Duties include cleaning to specification, waste disposal, security responsibilities (locking/unlocking), equipment checks, and staff cover. You must be safety-conscious, organised, and willing to undertake training. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a clean, safe learning environment and support the effective running of the academy.

The Link Academy was praised by Ofsted in May 2026 as an “ambitious and inclusive school” where “pupils flourish.” Inspectors highlighted the academy’s calm, respectful and supportive environment, noting that pupils feel safe, demonstrate excellent attitudes to learning and benefit from strong pastoral care. The school achieved Strong judgements in attendance and behaviour, inclusion, leadership and governance, and personal development and wellbeing, with achievement, curriculum and teaching meeting the Expected standard. Achieving four Strong judgements under Ofsted’s new inspection framework is a significant accomplishment and places the academy among a small number of schools in the region to achieve such recognition.
