Job summary

Mayflower Community Academy is seeking a reliable School Cleaner to join our friendly team in Plymouth. You will help ensure classrooms and the wider school environment are clean, hygienic and welcoming for pupils and staff each day.

Full induction and on-the-job training will be provided. Previous cleaning experience is not essential, as we will support you to develop the necessary skills and follow health and safety, safeguarding and GDPR procedures.

Qualifications

• Cleaning designated areas of the school to a high standard
• Vacuuming, sweeping, washing, polishing and dusting
• Emptying bins and cleaning toilets, fixtures and fittings
• Using cleaning equipment safely and appropriately
• Following daily, weekly and term-time cleaning schedules
• Helping to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for pupils and colleagues
• Reporting stock shortages, maintenance issues or equipment defects
• Following the school's health and safety, safeguarding, security and GDPR procedures

Mayflower Community Academy is looking for a reliable and hardworking School Cleaner to join our friendly team.

This is an important role within our school. You'll help ensure that our classrooms and wider school environment are kept clean, hygienic and ready for our children and staff each day. You'll work under the direction of our Site Manager and as part of the wider school team.

About the role

Your duties will include:

• Cleaning designated areas of the school to a high standard
• Vacuuming, sweeping, washing, polishing and dusting
• Emptying bins and cleaning toilets, fixtures and fittings
• Using cleaning equipment safely and appropriately
• Following daily, weekly and term-time cleaning schedules
• Helping to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for pupils and colleagues
• Reporting stock shortages, maintenance issues or equipment defects
• Following the school's health and safety, safeguarding, security and GDPR procedures.

About you

We're looking for someone who is dependable, conscientious and takes pride in doing a job well.

You should be comfortable working independently, able to follow instructions and capable of carrying out the physical aspects of the role, including moving equipment and furniture where necessary.

Previous cleaning experience or qualifications are not essential, as a full induction and on-the-job training will be provided. Experience of cleaning, working with cleaning chemicals or working within a school environment would be an advantage.
