Job summary

Rainbow Forge Primary Academy is seeking a reliable Cleaner to join our team and help maintain a clean, safe, welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors. The role involves carrying out a range of cleaning tasks daily, using equipment safely and following COSHH and health-and-safety guidelines.

We welcome applicants with school experience and a willingness to undertake relevant training. A DBS check will be enhanced, and the role requires reliability and teamwork within our school

Qualifications

• Experience using basic cleaning equipment.
• Good verbal communication skills and literacy to perform duties.
• Ability to prioritise own workload and meet deadlines.

• Commitment to Health & Safety and personal responsibility.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training; previous school experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out cleaning duties: sweeping, dusting, wall washing, toilet cleaning, mopping and vacuuming.
• Use cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
• Follow COSHH guidance and health & safety procedures.
• Empty litter bins and replenish janitorial supplies.
• Report damage, hazards or concerns to the Site Manager, Caretaker or school office.
• Ensure windows and doors are securely closed when cleaning duties are complete.
• Support planned cleaning programmes during Academy closure periods.
• Take responsibility for the care and safe use of cleaning equipment and materials.
• Wear appropriate protective clothing and equipment for the duties undertaken.

Rainbow Forge Primary Academy is looking for a reliable, hardworking and enthusiastic Cleaner to join our team and help us maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for our pupils, staff and visitors.

As a Cleaner, you will play an important role in ensuring that a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene is maintained throughout the Academy on a daily basis.

About the Role

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Carrying out a range of cleaning duties, including sweeping, dusting, wall washing, toilet cleaning, mopping and vacuuming.
2. Using appropriate cleaning equipment and materials safely and effectively.
3. Following COSHH guidance and relevant Health & Safety procedures.
4. Emptying litter bins and replenishing janitorial supplies.
5. Reporting any damage, hazards or concerns to the Site Manager, Caretaker or school office.
6. Ensuring windows and doors are securely closed when cleaning duties are complete.
7. Supporting planned cleaning programmes during Academy closure periods.
8. Taking responsibility for the care and safe use of cleaning equipment and materials.
9. Wearing appropriate protective clothing and equipment for the duties undertaken.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

1. Has good verbal communication skills and sufficient literacy and numeracy to carry out the duties of the role.
2. Has experience using basic cleaning equipment.
3. Can organise and prioritise their own workload and work to deadlines.
4. Can follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
5. Is able to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and other professionals.
6. Has a positive attitude towards learning, development and training.
7. Understands the importance of Health & Safety and personal responsibility.
8. Is committed to promoting equality, diversity, participation and responsibility.

Previous experience of working in a school or similar environment would be desirable, although a willingness to undertake relevant training is essential.
