Job summary

Platform Housing Group is recruiting a Lead Engineer – Carpentry to join Platform Property Care in Worcestershire. You will split your time between hands-on carpentry work (70–80%) and coaching colleagues, supporting apprentices, and promoting best practice.

You will drive quality standards, manage jobs end-to-end, and act as a technical expert while shaping future ways of working across the teams.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2, City & Guilds Level 2, or equivalent qualification in Carpentry.
• Significant experience as a Carpenter in the building trade.
• Experience working on occupied domestic properties and DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Carry out carpentry repairs and maintenance in homes and communal areas.
• Manage jobs from inspection to completion with excellent customer service.
• Coach, mentor, and develop colleagues and apprentices.
• Sign off colleagues against the multi-skill framework and EPA.
• Promote trade standards and best practice across platforms.
• Collaborate with Learning & Development on upskilling initiatives.
• Conduct audits, reviews and quality assessments for compliance.
• Be a technical escalation point for carpentry queries.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and future ways of working.
