Job summary

Platform Housing Group’s Platform Property Care division is seeking a Lead Engineer - Carpentry in Worcestershire to lead high‑quality carpentry repairs and mentor colleagues. You’ll balance hands‑on trades with coaching, ensuring consistent workmanship across our properties.

The role emphasises health and safety, customer service, and developing apprentices while working in customers’ homes across the area. A valid UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 / City & Guilds Level 2 in Carpentry or equivalent.
• Significant experience as a Carpenter in building trades.
• Experience working in occupied domestic properties and social housing desirable.
• Full UK driving licence; DBS check required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a wide range of carpentry repairs and maintenance in homes and communal areas.
• Manage jobs from inspection to completion with excellent customer service.
• Coach, mentor and develop colleagues and apprentices.
• Assess and sign off colleagues against multi-skill framework.
• Promote consistent trade standards and best practice.
• Support training initiatives with Learning & Development teams.
• Conduct trade audits, reviews and quality assessments.
• Act as technical expert and escalation point for carpentry queries.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities and shape future ways of working.
