Job summary

Mars Recruitment is seeking a Laser Applications Engineer in Didcot to develop laser micromachining processes for customers and run production work on advanced laser systems. The ideal candidate has a physics/engineering background with hands-on laser experience and a passion for optical engineering.

The role involves hands-on experimentation with UV–IR lasers, femtosecond to nanosecond pulses, and collaboration with a high-performing lab team. Benefits include holidays and pension options.

Qualifications

• Good degree or MSc in Lasers or Optical Engineering or Physics or Engineering or similar qualification plus equivalent practical experience
• Practical laser applications, especially micromachining is advantageous
• Some knowledge of - Laser micro-machining - Integration and test of complex laser systems - Machine control software or programming - Materials science - Metrology, microscopes, SEMs - Optical systems

Responsibilities

• Develop laser micromachining processes for customers.
• Run production work on laser systems for customers.
• Work with state‑of‑the‑art laser systems with UV to IR wavelengths and femtosecond to ns pulse durations.
• Apply knowledge of metrology and optical systems to ensure quality results.
