Job summary

Mars Recruitment is sourcing a Laser Applications Engineer for our client in Didcot. The role focuses on developing laser micromachining processes for customers and performing production tasks on cutting-edge laser systems spanning UV to IR with femtosecond to nanosecond pulse durations.

Ideal candidates hold a good degree in Lasers/Optical Engineering/Physics or Engineering, with practical laser applications experience. Industrial exposure and strong IT skills are valued assets.

Qualifications

• Good degree in Lasers, Optical Engineering, Physics or Engineering, plus practical experience.
• Practical laser applications, especially micromachining, are advantageous.
• Some knowledge of laser micromachining, integration and test of complex laser systems, machine control software or programming, materials science, metrology, microscopes, SEMs, and optical systems.
• Good computer and IT skills.
• Industrial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop laser micromachining processes for customers and run production work.
• Work with state-of-the-art laser systems with UV to IR wavelengths and femto/picosecond/nanosecond pulses.
• Collaborate with the team to optimize laser applications and ensure quality and throughput.
